Post by Michael FalknerI was hoping they would announce the full Top 25, so I could put the field down.
They will, at around 2:30, when they announce the Cotton, Fiesta, and Peach as well. Remember, the committee puts the teams into those bowls more or less arbitrarily; I think the only thing they make sure of is, they don't put two teams together that have already played this season.
Post by Michael FalknerPost by The NOTBCS GuyI think the big question is, will one of the Big Ten contract bowls "officially" invite Minnesota? I have yet to see anything official that says that, if Navy beats Army, then Navy becomes bowl eligible and, as a result, Minnesota is not.
There are seven other partners. The Big Ten has eight eligible teams, but I think at least three of them are going to the NY6. So they're probably ceding a spot in any event.
There are seven Big Ten bowls, which choose their teams in order: Citrus, ReliaQuest, Music City, Las Vegas, Pinstripe, Guaranteed Rate, and Quick Lane.
There are eight Big Ten bowl-eligible teams if you don't include Minnesota.
I am assuming Ohio State, Penn State, and Missouri will get into CFP bowls; that leaves five plus Minnesota for the seven bowls. It was going to be a "perfect fit" with Minnesota, until Georgia got what I thought was going to be Ohio State's spot in the Orange, which meant the ReliaQuest switched from an ACC bowl to a Big Ten one.
